Rachel is a chartered member of the CIPD and has been supporting construction companies with their training activities for over 20 years. Much of her experience was gained as Company Development Adviser for the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB), providing business support services and advising employers on grant recovery. She has also worked for a number of contractors directly (Bowey Group, Mansell Construction Services NE and Balfour Beatty) in a variety of HR and training roles. During her time at Mansell she increased grant recovery from £5k per annum to in excess of £130k, set up and maintained their training records and compiled their annual training plans. She also co-ordinated all of their training activities, including apprenticeships, work placements and graduate training schemes.
Much of her time now is spent bid writing, securing funding for construction companies of all sizes, to help them source and secure the skills, qualifications and training their workforce needs to help achieve business plans, growth and development. She has recently written a number of bids which secured over £300,000 of funding to help address the issue of productivity in the Construction Sector. Hard Hat Training Services Limited are now involved with project managing these initiatives that exist to research, design, test and evaluate innovative new training solutions aimed at reducing the volume and cost of error in the industry.
Dawn has over 15 years experience supporting construction companies with their training activities, predominantly through her role as Training Co-ordinator for the Contractors Training Group NE (CTGNE), which now has 58 members. For over 5 years now, Dawn has been supporting a growing number of contractors with their CITB grant claims, training matrices, training plans and training records. Over the last few years, she has written over 70 Skills and Training funding bids for construction employers across the UK, securing over £304,000 enabling them to meet their training needs.
Dawn has achieved a CIPD Level 5 certificate in Human Resources Management and supports a number of construction employers with their contracts of employment and basic employment policies and procedures, to minimise the risk of any employment claims.
Claire Harrison joined Hard Hat Training Services Limited in 2018 as a Training Co-ordinator and brought a wealth of experience in administration and customer service to the team.
Claire has a good working knowledge of construction training and now assists clients with their CITB grant claims, skills and training funding bids and maintenance of training matrices. In addition, Claire supports members of the North East Contractors Training Group with course enquiries and bookings.
Donna Somerville joined Hard Hat Training Services Limited in May 2021 as a Training Administrator. With over 20 years experience in administration and customer service, Donna co-ordinates course bookings, prepares and updates course materials, prepares and submits CITB short duration course claims, contributes to the evaluation of training, assists companies with evidence collation to support funding and grant claims, and provides comprehensive administration support across the business.
